Features and Specifications of the NordicTrack C900 Treadmill

NordicTrack C900

NordicTrack arrived on the home fitness scene with the NordicTrack Pro Skier in the late 1980s, early 1990s. Since then they have become big players in the home fitness machine market offering a line of home workout machines including treadmills, exercise bikes and elliptical trainers. The company also still makes their famous ski machine.

The Five NordicTrack Treadmill Model Categories

In the treadmill category, NordicTrack offers five product line categories generally sorted by features, component strength, fitness settings, and price. The five categories are Commercial, C-series, Incline, Fit (formerly A Series) and Elite. The NordicTrack C900 treadmill is part of the company’s C series line of treadmills.

NordicTrack C Series Treadmills

The C Series machines are designed with strong components (tread, frame and motor) but not the strongest and most durably constructed, which are reserved for the Commercial line models.

There are two models in the C-Series category, the C900 and the C900 Pro. While the underlying components are the same, the C900 is has a few more options making it more appealing for the home user while the C900 Pro’s more stripped down offerings make it more appropriate for a fitness center or professional training facility.

NordicTrack C900 Workout Features

There are a few extra workout-related features that make the C900 a good choice for a home user. The C900 has 20 built-in pre-programmed workout routines to help jump start a quick workout. There are five focusing on calorie burning, five for speed, five for incline and five high intensity options.

In addition, the C900 is compatible with the iFit Live workout program (sold separately). iFit Live fitness software is an internet based program that tracks exercise progress across multiple workouts, recommends custom workouts and lets users run a virtual course using Google Maps and Google Streetview in which the machine matches the elevation of the actual terrain.

The incline settings range from 0 to 15% and there is no decline option for the C900. Treadmill running speed is up to 12MPH.

C900 Comfort Features

The C900 has NordicTrack’s QuadFlex Cushioning, a suspension system that softens landings on the treadmill deck to reduce shock to bones and joints. Also aiding user comfort is a fan on the console that can be set to automatically adjust its speed to match the intensity of the workout or can be set manually to a desired speed.

The C900 has a space-saving feature in which the treadmill deck fold ups and is stored vertically between the arms of the upper portion. To aid users in lifting the platform, the C900 comes with a hydraulic arm, a feature branded as Easylift Assist by NordicTrack.

NordicTrack C900 Specifications

The motor on the C900 is a 3.0 CHP (continuous duty horsepower) unit, which is in the middle range compared to other NordicTrack treadmill model. The tread length is 20″ wide by 60″ long and the rollers are 2.5″ in diameter a specification that, like the motor, is in the middle range of those available. The user weight capacity is 350 lbs.

With mid-level components and a wide range of built-in fitness features and available options the NordicTrack C900 is an ideal treadmill for a regular home exerciser. The components can withstand regular use and there are enough workout and comfort settings to keep frequent users from getting bored.
